Cameras

Here at WDHS we have a variety of cameras avaliable to the students. We think that the students should have access to top of the line equipment for their projects. We also believe that it should be avaliable to them free of charge. We do ask that the students to return equipment after one day of rental. We also ask that the students take care of the equipment so that it will be around for a while. On the left, there is a photo of of every type of camera we have at WDHS, there are 2 or 3 of each type of camera at the studio, we total around 13 cameras, and are always looking into purchasing more. We also have outdated equipment that is not pictured because they are no longer used.

Cannon XL2

The Canon XL2 is a high tech camera and is one of our most prized cameras. It captures Hollywood quality video and is only avaliable to the Staff, who use it to make their videos and the current Directed Study films. This camera is a top pick of professionals and is quite expensive.

Canon XL1

The Canon XL1 is a high tech camera and is one of our most prized cameras. It captures Hollywood quality video and is only avaliable to the Staff, who use it to make their videos and the Directed Study films (see Projects or Exposing Joe.

Canon GL2

The Canon GL2 is yet another high tech camera and captures quality video, especially the color. The downside may be argued, but we here think that its lack of an XLR input poses a problem in capturing quality audio, so we have purchased an adapter that will take 2 XLR inputs and converts them to the Stero Input that the GL2 has onboard. Further making this camera a valuable asset to filmmaking here at WDHS. This camera is for Advanced Video students only.

Sony DSR PD-150

The Sony DSR PD-150 is a great camera. It is very easy to use, and is available to entry level students. It is even chosen by some advanced students to use for videos. The quality is very good. It has 2 XLR inputs and comes with a microphone. It has been used for shows such as Trading Spaces a nd sometimes even for news stories on networks.

Sony TRV 950

The Sony TRV 950 is used mainly for digitizing videos to computers at home for the students that edit their videos at home.

Sony TRV 900

The Sony TRV 900 is the same as the TRV 950 but obviously is an older model.

Sony HandyCam HC-85

We just recently purchased two Sony HandyCam cameras for the students in Studio Productions 1 and 2.
